Hello and welcome!

I thought I should officially introduce myself, share a few things about me, and what my writing routine looks like (what routine? 🤣).

My Backstory

I’m an American living in Japan. After growing up in a pretty nomadic life (moving every three years or so), the big move to Japan felt pretty tame. My nomadic childhood had a pretty big impact on me, which is why both Cassie (Lattes with Starlight) and Jo (Shadows in Her Bones) are well-traveled nomads themselves. The idea of growing up in one place in a small town sounds adorable, but I haven’t ever experienced anything like it.

My Favorite Tropes

I’m a huge sucker for found family and ragtag groups coming together to help each other. (Probably why I love Dragon Age so much?) As for romance I love a good slow-burn that leads to some spicy fireworks. 🤭 My fanfic days had quite the spice and as I begin my author journey, I’m excited to build the story and emotional connections that lead us through the subtle gestures and romantic moments.

I also adore fantasy! Give me modern day or other worlds. Give me magical cafes and talking cats (who aren’t exactly cats šŸ˜ Myojin I’m looking at you). Those quiet moments between scenes like in Ghibli movies when Sophie’s sitting and watching the clouds roll by. Scenes when found family is gathered around the table sharing meals together. (Are these even tropes anymore or just things I like? Oops.)

My Writing Rituals

If I’m writing, I always have a coffee mug nearby. I love a good warm spiced chai and many times I’ll sip my favorite green tea (which I’m almost out of and I can’t buy it in my new prefecture 😭). I also love a good coffee! It can be pretty expensive where I live but when money allows I love trying different blends.

If I’m writing a particularly stressful chapter or scene, you better believe there will be snacks! I can’t stop myself from reaching into a bag of chips or senbei between keyboard smashes and exhausted sighs because the plot won’t plot the way I want.

Some Personal Facts

If I’m not selling my soul to get my next book finished, then I’m probably in the kitchen baking something (if the price of butter could please chill, that is). My love of food and drinks is probably why Cassie (a former chef 🤭 some backstory reveal because I don’t think it’s mentioned in the book?) mixes fantastical drinks for her customers and Evren (sexy alpha werewolf) bakes up all kinds of deserts for Jo.

If you ever want a peek at my favorite recipes, let me know because there’s nothing I love more than a warm, fudgy brownie or (recently) a soft as air focaccia coming out of the oven. The scent alone is worth bottling up and selling, I swear.

Besides food, I love losing myself in video games with story-driven plots (especially if the story changes the game! LOVE) and watching shows/movies that are fantasy or sci-fi.

As always, thank you for being here. Thank you for supporting an indie author who (crazily) decided to chase her dreams. And of course, please, I’m always happy to hear from you! Share your favorite books, games, or shows because I’m always looking for something new to fall in love with!

Lattes with Starlight is a cozy urban fantasy that takes place in Japan featuring a mashup of Japanese and global folklore. The romance and found family are so sweet it’ll give you a toothache.

Set against the rural and suburban areas of Missouri, Shadows in Her Bones is a paranormal romance with a complex female lead and a soft-hearted werewolf who falls head over heels for her. For fans of Supernatural and Werewolf by Night.

Out of My Skin is not a romance. This urban fantasy contains darker themes written in poetic prose. Despite it’s darkness it will leave you empowered and ready to shred the patriarchy to pieces.
